Why Your Website Matters

Discover the pitfalls of an undervalued web presence and how it can negatively impact your business.

Because It Matters To People.

For many business owners the decision to get or update a website can seem, at best, daunting, and at worst, not worth the time, money, or effort. There are so many things going on in your business, and there just isn’t enough time. Sound familiar? Well, you are not alone. How many business websites have you come across that are poorly designed, outdated, or plain broken? What about businesses that simply don’t have one?

There are many reasons for this of course, but they all mean nothing to potential customers using your website. What they actually think about a business that has an undervalued or nonexistent website is that it’s not credible or trustworthy, and the owner must not care about their business. Not thoughts we want to go through the heads of your potential customers! Of course we know it’s not true, but as you know, feelings are illogical even at the best of times

Consumers Have Feelings Too!

Feelings and marketing/advertising have been attached at the hip ever since its inception. As a business owner, the feelings and psychology of website visitors don’t usually come to mind when faced with the decision to update or launch a new website. Yet they are actually one of the most crucial things to consider when measuring a website’s priority for your business. Customers never start out being customers. They are visitors that have chosen to be customers.

So What Turns A Visitor Into A Customer?

We are busy, busy people, and if a website is resistant in allowing us to use it, we will go somewhere else.

Largely it’s the products or services you offer. And don’t get me wrong here, a quality website with great design and messaging should always be a priority. But if anyone tells you a website can sell something based solely on design, they are giving too much credit to the web design industry.

People are trying to solve problems, and their on your website in search of a solution. The goal is to help them along, providing a good overall experience during that search. Intuitive navigation, familiar design patterns, and predictable outcomes are a must. We are busy, busy people, and if a website is resistant in allowing us to use it, we will go somewhere else. And just like that…. potential customer lost, and gained by a competitor that invested in their online image and marketing.

Having said that, hesitation can be validated by severe aesthetic shortcomings, so don’t underestimate it.
